John is the founder of Countryside Renewables and the former head of Renewable Energy Finance at a German bank in London. Between 2005 – 2011 his team financed over EUR 1.5 billion of solar and wind projects located across Europe, three years of which the bank was ranked global #1 in renewable energy finance. Notable deals include financing a 350MW portfolio of GE wind turbines, structuring the debt finance on the 300MW Thanet offshore wind farm the UK, and financing a dozen utility-size solar projects in Spain. During his six years at the bank he also served on the boards of two renewable energy companies. Prior to commercial banking, John spent seven years in investment banking including at Friedman Billings Ramsey and the ING Group. John earned his Master’s degree in International Finance from the London School of Economics in 1998 and became a CFA Charterholder in 2001. He holds a BA in Economics, a BA in Humanities and is proficient in Spanish.
